To start: the ball (looks like a volleyball but is weighted and would probably break my arm if I tried to use it as a volleyball) It is slightly larger than a handball ball.
Sorry it is so small, but that striped pole with a basket at the top is the cesto where you try to shoot the ball into. (Rather like the basketball hoop but there is court all the way around it)
Here is a little video of a practice.
Some rules that I actually know are:
-you only have about 2 or so steps
-the ball can't touch other parts of your body before you catch it or the possession changes
-If the ball isn't caught it is still in play and you should pick it up (not just stand there and watch as the other team steals it)
-no body checking other players
- don't pass to somebody who is not on your team (duh, but without colors I can never remember!)
I am sure there are lots of other rules but those are the ones I have used so far to get by. I started out really terrible and now I am half bad. So... overall, I am improving, and most importantly.... I love playing and hanging out with the cesto group!
